About Lorinda

Lorinda Fontaine-Farris, CRNP-OB/GYN

Ms. Lorinda Fontaine-Farris is a board certified Obstetrical-Gynecological Nurse Practitioner (OB/GYN NP). She initially began her medical career with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition Education from the University of Maine. She later attended Johns Hopkins University for her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and eventually, the University of Texas, obtaining her credentials as an OB/GYN NP and her Masters in Science.

Lorinda currently works for the United States Army at an ambulatory care clinic at Ft. Meade, MD. She retired from the United States Air Force Reserves after 29 years in July 2015.

Lorinda is currently pursuing a certification in Functional Medicine in addition to her full-time career. Functional Medicine is an approach to health care she finds very similar to her Nurse Practitioner training as it addresses the underlying causes of disease and looks at the whole patient holistically. She has learned through using it in her practice, it is quite similar to nutrition in that it shifts the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient and health-centered approach.

Lorinda nourishes herself with yoga, meditation, and being part of various life enhancing, growth seeking groups. She has two cats that have traveled the world with her.
